Roundhouses, drip gullies, polygons and ring beams - the Geoff Carter dimension

If you are sitting at your desk interpreting a prehistoric roundhouse then cast an eye over Geoff Carter’s [2] work on some roundhouses he has encountered in the UK. Geoff is writing about a different country, different cultures and different sites but the principles he addresses are relevant in Ireland. This work is relevant to us now because we are writing up a series of prehistoric structures across Ireland and trying to differentiate wall foundations, drip gullies, clay walls and ring beams. You might not agree with everything Geoff says but read it two or three times and send me an email if you did not learn something.
